Coronavirus vaccine should be taken every year |
In an interview with the BBC. Albert Burla says vaccinations will be needed every year to ensure a 'very high level of protection. "People will have to get vaccinated every year for many years to come," he said.
Pfizer's chief executive told the BBC in an interview that a new variant of the coronavirus, which was first detected in South Africa, had been identified before Amicron.
In the interview. Burla said they have already taken steps to implement the Pfizer vaccine against a beta variant of the coronavirus first identified in South Africa, and a delta variant identified in India. However, he claimed that there was no change in their vaccines to deal with those two types.
Regarding the newly identified Omicron variant, he said that they are now working to make the vaccine effective against the Omicron variant. He also said that the work of updating their vaccines will be completed within the next 100 days.
