'Person of the Year' is Elon Musk

Tesla and SpaceX Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Elon Musk have been named 'Person of the Year' by Time Magazine.

Each year, Time Magazine names the best people of the year by conducting a survey of individuals, groups, and objects that have an impact on global events.

Edward Felsenthal, Time's editor-in-chief and chief executive, said in a statement that the Person of the Year was a measure of influence. Very few people have been able to influence life on earth more than a mask. This may also apply to life outside of Earth.

This year, Elon Musk has surpassed Jeff Bezos's Amazon to become the richest man in the world. In addition to responding worldwide with Tesla electric cars, SpaceX has also caught everyone's eye this year. For the first time in history, SpaceX only sent tourists into space. 

Edward Felsenthal said: "Musk is not only the richest man in the world in 2021 but also the best example of the great change that has taken place in our society."

In addition to being named Person of the Year, Time has named pop singer Olivia Rodrigo the "Entertainer of the Year", US gymnast Simon Biles the "Athlete of the Year" and the "Hero of the Year" among vaccine scientists.

 

Last year, the magazine jointly selected US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris as its Person of the Year.
