Who invented walking?

That is an essential query due to the fact many anthropologists view bipedalism - meaning taking walks on two legs - as one of the hallmarks of "hominin," or current humans, and their ancestors. It is difficult to give a simple answer, however, because bipedalism did not appear in one day. It underwent a gradual evolution that began millions of years ago.

Of course, there are no video clips of the first person ever going straight. So how do scientists try to answer the questions about human migration in ancient times? Fortunately, the structure of the skeleton of the creature and the way it is assembled can tell the story of how that body moved during our lifetime. And anthropologists could find additional evidence on the site to show how ancient peoples traveled.

Why We Walk?
Why We Walk?

In 1994, the first remnants of an unknown hominin were discovered in Ethiopia. Anthropologists who discovered the fossils called the new discovery, an old woman, Anthropologists who found the fossils referred to as the new discovery, an antique girl, Ardipithecus ramidus, nicknamed "Ardi." Over the following 10 years, greater than a hundred fossils of the Ard species had been determined and are predicted to be among 4.2 and four.4 million years antique.

whilst scientists examined the skeleton, they determined positive traits that indicate bipedalism. The foot, for example, had a structure that allows for the kind of push-ups we have today, which do not have four-legged monkeys. The shape of the pelvic bones, the way the legs were placed under the pelvis, and the way the leg bones meet all suggest that walking in the same direction. "Ardi" may not have walked exactly as we do today, but bipedalism as a normal movement seems to be a feature of these fossils from 4.4 million years ago.

Anthropologists had discovered about 40% of the bone marrow, a species of hominin that lived about a million years after Ardi, also in Ethiopia. Because of its similarity to other fossils found in southern and eastern Africa, they called it Australopithecus afarensis, which in Latin means “southern monkey from far away.” The man was a woman, so they named him "Lucy" after the Beatles' song, which was popular at the time.

Many more remains of this species - more than 300 people - have been added to the group, and today researchers know a lot about Lucy and her relatives.

Lucy had a partial pelvis but was well maintained, which is how anthropologists knew she was a woman. The pelvis and the bones of the upper leg come together in such a way that they can be straightened by two legs. No foot bones have been preserved, but recent findings of A. Afarensis include feet and show bipedal movement as well.

In addition to the fossil record, scientists have found some astonishing evidence of Lucy's biological processes in the Laetoli region of Tanzania. Below the volcanic ash of 3.6 million years ago, biologists found footprints in the wetlands of the volcanic ash. Tracks travel approximately 100 feet, with 70 prints indicating the presence of at least three people walking upright on two feet. Given the estimated age, the developers may be Australopithecus afarensis.

The tracks prove that these hominins walk on legs, but the movement appears a bit unique from ours nowadays. Nevertheless, Laetoli provides strong evidence of bipedalism 3.5 million years ago.

His hominin anatomy was so much like ours that we will say that it went as it is and did no longer seem in Africa till 1.8 million years ago. Homo erectus was the first to have long legs and short arms that would make it possible to walk, run, and walk in the Earth's atmosphere as we do today. Homo erectus also had a much larger brain than the previous bipedal hominins and made and used stone tools called Acheulean objects. Anthropologists consider Homo erectus our closest relative and the first member of our species, Homo.

So, as you can see, human travel took a very long time to grow. It originated in Africa more than 4.4 million years ago, long before the invention of tools.

Why do hominins go straight? maybe it allowed them to peer other predators greater without difficulty, or to run quicker, or maybe the surroundings modified and there had been fewer trees to climb because the previous hominins did.

In any case, the people and their ancestors began to go back in time to their evolutionary history. Even though bipedalism came before the invention of tools, upright posture freed hands to make and use tools, which eventually became one of the most visible signs of people like us.
