Cyclone death toll rises to 100 in the US

Cyclone death toll rises to 100 in the US: The death toll from a devastating cyclone in the southwestern United States has risen to 74. The cyclone struck Friday night (December 11), local time, and affected not only Kentucky but five other states.

At least 60 people were killed in a tornado in Kentucky on Friday night, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said. This number may be more than 100 people. This is the worst cyclone in the history of the state, he said. He declared a state of emergency before midnight on Friday, fearing the situation could worsen.

The governor added that a cyclone had destroyed a candle factory in the town of Mayfield. This led to more casualties. Rescuers rescued 40 people alive. More rescue operations are being carried out there.

The governor of Arkansas said two deaths had been confirmed in the state. Four deaths have been reported in the state of Tennessee. In addition, six died in the state of Illinois and two in Missouri.

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden spoke with Andy Ziar, the governor of the worst-hit state of Kentucky, to find out the latest status of the cyclone. He assured all kinds of cooperation to the victims.
