Tedros Adhanam Gabriasus, head of the World Health Organization (WHO), says the coroner's omicron type is spreading faster than Delta.
He said on Monday (December 20th) that those who had previously recovered from the corona and had taken two doses of the vaccine were also being infected with Omicron.
"We have credible information that Omicron is spreading faster than Delta," the doctor told a Geneva-based news conference.
Meanwhile, one million people a day in the United States could be infected with the highly contagious omnivorous type of corona if they do not follow proper hygiene rules. Francis Collins, the outgoing director of the country's National Institutes of Health, issued the warning on Sunday.
According to the World Health Organization, the infection has been reported in 69 countries so far. It has also doubled the rate of epidemics in all areas where there is community transmission.
"I know people are tired," said Francis Collins. Believe me, I'm tired myself. We do not yet know how much potential this virus has. However, the risk of omikron becoming acute is much lower.
He further said that if we do not pay attention to the techniques of epidemic mitigation, one million people could be infected in this country every day.
No one expects a virus-like Omicron, he said, adding that it is really difficult to deal with. It has undergone 56 different transformations.
