The FBI claims that the hackers did not steal the information: Hackers have recently hacked the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) external e-mail system. They have sent thousands of messages to US intelligence agencies warning of impending cyber attacks. However, those involved claim that no data was seized or smuggled from the FBI network.

In a statement, the FBI stated that "as soon as we are aware of the incident, we fix the software error and ensure the security of our network."

Note that the FBI was the victim of that hacking last Saturday. FBI and cyber security experts have confirmed the hacking. The agency acknowledged sending fake e-mails from the FBI's e-mail address.

The cyber security agency Spamhouse Project tweeted that hackers had hacked the FBI's e-mail system and sent thousands of e-mails. Surprisingly, hackers have warned e-mail recipients of impending cyber attacks.

The e-mail looks like it was signed by the Department of Homeland Security at the end of the e-mail. However, the FBI operates under the auspices of the Department of Justice.
