Japan and the United Kingdom have delivered approximately 8 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine under CoVAX.
The vaccines were handed over to Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malek at the state guest house the Padma on Wednesday, the health department said in a press release.
At the time, Ambassador Naoki Ito from Japan handed over 4,000,800 doses and High Commissioner Chatterton Dixon from the United Kingdom handed over 4,055,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine.
At the handover ceremony, Health Minister Zahid Malek said, “These vaccines from both the countries will make us stronger against corona. We have already exceeded 32% of our target by vaccination.
He added, "Now we have 4 and a half crore dose of vaccine in hand. The booster dose will be started within 8 to 10 days this month.
